King Fisher Voyages Rain Forest

  • Ages: 8-10
  • Publisher: Kingfisher Books (2006)
  • Author: Jinny Johnson and Dr. Nalini Nadkarni
Non-Fiction
Scientist Nalini Nadkarni takes the reader on a journey of the Rain Forest.   There are three sections of the book.  Into the Forest is the first section which describes life on the ground and exloring rivers like the Amazon.  In the next section Up in the Air, conveys animal life off of the ground.  One section children will enjoy is a section that opens up to show a tree with different animals and where they live.  The last section of the book, Life at the Top tells the reader about the tallest trees in the Rain Forest.

In the classroom it would be fun to have the children make a flip book with the different sections in the book.  They can then write what they find in each section of the book wether it be animals or tribes that once lived in the Rain Forest.  Throught the flip book they can also draw or print out pictures to place on the pages.
